New York ETO strengthens cultural and business ties at Art Basel Miami Beach

On Dec 3, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (New York ETO), Maisie Ho, visited Miami to deepen Hong Kong’s presence at Art Basel Miami Beach, one of the world’s most influential art fairs, and strengthen Hong Kong’s business and cultural ties with Miami.

Ms Ho attended the Pre-Opening Breakfast Reception of Art Basel Miami Beach, where she engaged with global art leaders and highlighted Hong Kong’s unique role as Asia’s premier arts trading hub and the home of Art Basel’s only fair in Asia. Together with Angelle Siyang-Le, Director of Art Basel Hong Kong, she met Noah Horowitz, CEO of Art Basel, and Steven Meiner, Mayor of Miami Beach, to convey the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government’s commitment to deepen collaboration with Art Basel, strengthen Hong Kong's role as a regional arts trading hub, and enhance its status as an international arts trading market.

As part of the three-year strategic partnership between Hong Kong Tourism Board and Art Basel, a special Hong Kong LED wall was displayed at the entrance at Art Basel Miami Beach, reinforcing Hong Kong’s position as a global cultural destination and enhancing international visibility for Hong Kong’s arts sector. At the fair, Ms Ho also visited participating Hong Kong galleries, including Alisan Fine Arts, which has recently expanded to New York—underscoring the growing global footprint of Hong Kong’s arts community.

During her visit, Ms Ho also hosted a business luncheon titled “When Wealth Meets Art: Hong Kong as the Arts Trading Hub of Asia”, where she briefed attendees on Hong Kong’s dynamic art ecosystem and forward-looking policies that are creating new opportunities for collectors, investors and cultural partners worldwide. She also outlined Hong Kong’s vision to drive the next stage of growth through policy and infrastructural push. The event brought together selected Miami’s business and finance leaders and was joined by Anson Law, Chief Representative (New York) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, and Curtis Louie, Director (New York & Midwest) of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
