HKETONY Director Joanne Chu met with government officials and business leaders to foster closer ties and explore partnership opportunities during her first duty visit to the Old Line State (Apr 11-12). She spoke about the latest initiatives in Hong Kong to promote innovation and technology, as well as opportunities that would arise from developments such as the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area Development and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link. She also highlighted the benefits that Baltimore companies and start-ups could gain by establishing research and development operations at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.

She met with Benjamin Wu, Deputy Secretary of the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development; Eddie Resende, VP of Operations at the World Trade Center Institute; and Donald C. Fry, President and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee. While in Baltimore, she also paid a visit to Johns Hopkins University Associate Professors Dr. Winnie Tang and Dr. James Sham to discuss research opportunities in the US and Hong Kong.
