Hong Kong designers, brands hit New York Fashion Week

Three leading Hong Kong fashion designers took part in New York Fashion Week, showcasing the city’s fashion creativity to the New York and global audience.

Harrison Wong, Hidy Ng and Polly Ho launched their Fall/Winter 2016 collections to a packed audience of industry representatives, buyers, media and fashion followers at the catwalk show at Moynihan Station in New York City.

This marks the first time in 12 years that the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has sent local designers to take part in New York Fashion Week.

Aside from the catwalk show, The House of Fashion Hong Kong pop-up showroom was set up in trendy SoHo, to showcase the works of Hong Kong designers and to facilitate networking and cooperation between designers and fashion buyers.

Speaking at a post-catwalk reception, co-sponsored by Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY), HKETONY Director Steve Barclay welcomed the designers to New York and highlighted the government’s efforts to promote local fashion designers and brands.

Mr. Barclay said he is happy to work with HKTDC to promote Hong Kong designs in the U.S. and New York, in particular. He looks forward to more collaborations showcasing the city’s fashion creativity.
