Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York (HKETONY) hosted a reception on February 17 to welcome two outstanding Hong Kong artists, Phoebe Hui and Ying Cai, who are recipients of this year’s "HKETONY Arts Fellows of the Yale-China Arts Fellowship" program.

The program is supported by HKETONY and administered by the Yale-China Association.

Hui, an interdisciplinary artist, and Cai, a dancer, will join a six-month residency program in New Haven, Conn. They will have the opportunity to learn from practicing artists and professors at Yale University and in the greater New Haven area, and develop their own projects to be premiered at the 2017 International Festival of Arts & Ideas.

Speaking at the welcome reception, Director of HKETONY Steve Barclay expressed full confidence that both Hui and Cai will be great ambassadors for Hong Kong and hopes that this cross-cultural immersion fellowship program will further elevate and expand the artists’ work to greater heights. This, in turn, will further enrich the burgeoning arts and cultural scene in Hong Kong.

Executive Director of the International Festival of Arts & Ideas Mary Lou Aleskie attends the reception.

Present at the welcome reception are (from left): Yale-China Association Director of Education Leslie Stone; HKETONY Director Steve Barclay; New Haven Arts, Culture and Tourism Director Andy Wolf; Yale-China Association Executive Director David Youtz; and Mary Child.
