Double-champ crowned
Tai-chi coach Lisa Chan, capturing the exhilarating moments of the 27th Hong Kong Dragon Festival in New York in August, emerged as the double-champion of the photo and video contest organized by Sing Tao Daily and the HKETONY, winning both the best photo and best video awards. Director of HKETONY Joanne Chu congratulated the winners, especially those in video segment, which was introduced for the first time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR. Hong Kong is ideal for FinTech sector
Hong Kong's strengths – stability, opportunity and security – makes it the ideal place for the FinTech sector investment, said Director of HKETONY Joanne Chu when she addressed the opening of an InvestHK forum in Chicago (Sep 11). In her first speaking engagement in the Windy City, she highlighted Hong Kong’s business-friendly environment and business opportunities for Chicago firms under the Belt and Road Initiative and in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area. Atlanta celebrates dragon boat tradition
Paddlers rowing in tandem in colorful dragon boats took to the waters at the Lake Lanier Olympic site, with 80 dragon boat teams from across Southeast USA going head-to-head, competing for top prizes at the 22nd Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Atlanta (Sep 9). In her first visit to Georgia, Director of HKETONY Joanne Chu officiated at the festival's opening. Details here.

Director promotes trade in first visit to Atlanta
In her first duty visit to Atlanta (Sep 8), Director of HKETONY Joanne Chu highlighted trade and business opportunities in her meetings government officials and business leaders in the Peach State. She met with COO of the Georgia Department of Economic Development Bert Brantley along with Abby Turano, Deputy Commissioner, International Relations and Dawn Townsend, Deputy Director for International Trade. While in Atlanta, Ms Chu also met with Senior Director of Foreign Investment John Woodward, at the Metro Atlanta Chamber. Details here.

Director-General of Investment Promotion visits New York
In his meeting with the New York business community on August 22, Director-General of Investment Promotion of Invest Hong Kong Stephen Phillips said InvestHK wants to help companies grow in and via Hong Kong. He highlighted business opportunities Hong Kong offers to US companies, under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay Area. Details here.

Asian Youth Orchestra ends US tour in New York with flourish
The 100-plus strong, Hong Kong-based Asian Youth Orchestra performed to a standing ovation in New York on August 13, a fitting note to close their tour across the United States. They had performed in San Francisco, San Jose, Washington D.C., and Brevard (NC) earlier in the month. Details here.

Bidding adieu to summer interns
Six young undergrads from Hong Kong and the US are wrapping up their summer internships in the office, after two months helping out in various publicity and administrative duties primarily related to the celebration of the 20th anniversary (of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR). The interns tried their hand at drafting FB posts, remarks and research reports, and were heavily involved in organising various publicity events such as the 20A Gala Dinner, the New York Asian Film Festival and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York. HKETONY rings bell at New York’s stock exchange, for HK Dragon Boat Festival in New York
Joining other executives and sponsors, HKETONY director Joanne Chu visited the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and rang the opening bell on Aug 10 to usher in the Annual Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in NY, to be held Aug 12-13. Details here.
