Bidding adieu to summer interns

Six young undergrads from Hong Kong and the US are wrapping up their summer internships in the office, after two months helping out in various publicity and administrative duties primarily related to the celebration of the 20th anniversary (of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR).

The interns tried their hand at drafting FB posts, remarks and research reports, and were heavily involved in organising various publicity events such as the 20A Gala Dinner, the New York Asian Film Festival and the Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York.

Among them, Heather Hsu and Thomas Chu are from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, while Tabia Lui and Emily Or from the City University of Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University respectively. The remaining two - Rachel Cho and Aidan Langston - attend the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard University respectively.

Assigned to work with the Press and PR, investment promotion, and administrative units of the office, the interns had first-hand experience in promoting Hong Kong to Americans and facilitating better cultural and business links. Their day-to-day duties included helping to manage HKETONY's Facebook page "Hong Kong meets America" and the webpage; and contributing to the weekly newsletter. They also assisted in events management, research and administrative support. The interns also had opportunities to sit in on meetings with potential businesses interested in investing in Hong Kong as well as attending talks.

The interns greatly appreciated the time spent at HKETONY, gaining invaluable working experience during the summer. Director Joanne Chu thanked the interns for their contribution and wished them the best of luck in their future endeavors.
