New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno praised Hong Kong for its ease of doing business and being the gateway to China at a recent business forum. At the same MIDJersey Chamber of Commerce 2015 International Business Conference in Ewing Township, N.J., on October 13, Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York Steve Barclay called on New Jersey businesses to take advantage of Hong Kong’s strategic geographical location, sound financial infrastructure and regulatory regime, and wealth of experience in being the first mover to expand its reach in Asia and mainland China. NYSE Bell Rings for Dragon Boat Festival
Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY) Steve Barclay joins Chairman of Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in New York (HKDBF-NY) Henry Wan to ring the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange on July 27 morning, ushering in the festive event to be held in Flushing Meadows Park on August 8 and 9. Hong Kong Chief Executive Visits Chicago
Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr. C. Y. Leung, made his first official visit to Chicago in June. On June 10, Mr. Leung started the day by addressing the annual “Think Asia, Think Hong Kong” symposium organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), which was attended by 1,000 business people. In the afternoon, he met with the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, Mr. Charles Evans. They exchanged views on the outlook of the global economy. Mr. Leung also held a meeting with the President of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, Mr. Ivo Daalder. At the meeting, Mr. Leung provided an update on Hong Kong on various fronts. The Chief Executive called on the Mayor of Chicago, Mr. Rahm Emanuel, in the evening to discuss trade and economic relations between Chicago and Hong Kong. Twenty five innovative artwork pieces by students of the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) are currently on display at the roving "Discover the Basic Law" exhibition. Hong Kong Chief Executive Visits Boston
Hong Kong Chief Executive, Mr. C. Y. Leung, kicked off his official visit to Boston on May 5 with tours to top-notched research institutions to see for himself the latest development of innovation and technology in the United States. Leading a delegation comprising government officials, industry leaders and academics from the innovation and technology sector, the Chief Executive started the day by visiting the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Media Lab which is devoted to projects at the convergence of technology, multimedia, sciences, art and design. MIT Media Lab includes more than 25 research groups working on more than 350 projects with diverse research themes, ranging from digital approaches for treating neurological disorders to a stackable electric car for sustainable cities. Hong Kong celebrates robust trade ties with Georgia
Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs Clement Leung and Director of Hong Kong Economic and Trade office in New York Steve Barclay called on Governor Nathan Deal on March 11. Mr Leung highlighted the robust trade growth between Hong Kong and Georgia last year, with Georgia exports jumping by one-fifth in value to almost US$800 million compared to 2013.

Hong Kong and US continue to strengthen strong economic ties
Economic and trade ties between Hong Kong and the United States (US) grew from strength to strength last year, with more direct flights, bumper trade and co-operation in combating tax evasion, said the Hong Kong Commissioner for Economic and Trade Affairs, USA, Mr Clement Leung, at the February 19 Chinese New Year Reception organised by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York (HKETONY). Also speaking at the occasion, the Director of HKETONY, Mr Steve Barclay, said aside from promoting closer economic, investment and trade ties, his office also aims to foster cultural ties between Hong Kong and the 31 eastern states.
