HKIA is home to world's busiest air cargo hub

Hong Kong International Airport is the world's busiest air cargo airport.

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) topped the Airports Council International’s 2015 World Airport Traffic Report as the world’s busiest air cargo airport, with throughput at 4.5 million metric tonnes in 2015. Memphis International Airport came in second at 4.3 million metric tonnes.

The report, which analyzed data from more than 2,300 airports in 160 countries, also ranked HKIA as the world’s busiest international airport as measured by international freight traffic and the third-busiest as measured by international passenger traffic.

The airport’s international freight traffic measured 4.38 million metric tonnes in 2015, up 0.1% from 2014, while its international passenger traffic reached 68.1 million, up 8.2% from 2014.
