Kickstarter launches in Hong Kong
Crowdfunding platform Kickstarter launched in Hong Kong on August 31 as part of its expansion into Asia, giving startups a chance to initiate fundraising campaigns from the city.
Hong Kongers are some of the world’s top backers of Kickstarter projects, having pledged funds to more than 17,000 projects and raising more than US$10 million since the company started operating in the U.S. in 2009.
Kickstarter CEO and co-founder Yancey Strickler said Hong Kong is one of the most exciting regions for creative culture and innovation in Asia, and the company is excited to welcome Hong Kong creators to its platform. Expanding its platform in Hong Kong will make it easier for creators from the city to launch projects and will make backing them more interesting.
