'Port of Call' chosen to contend for Oscars

"Port of Call" is Hong Kong's entry in the foreign language film category for the 2017 Oscars.

The Hong Kong Motion Picture Industry Association selected crime drama “Port of Call” to contend for best foreign language film at next year’s Oscars.

Starring Aaron Kwok, “Port of Call,” which details an investigation into the murder of a mainland China immigrant in Hong Kong, was the closing film of the 2015 Hong Kong International Film Festival.

The film received recognition at the Asian Film Awards, Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Horse Awards.

The movie made its North American premiere as the opening night film of the 2015 New York Asian Film Festival.

The Oscars will be held on February 26, 2017.
