HKETONY director renews ties in Midwest

Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York (HKETONY) Steve Barclay met with business and political leaders during his duty visit to the midwestern states of Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois in mid-May.

Mr. Barclay discussed the advantages of doing business in and through Hong Kong, as well as export opportunities for businesses. He met with Maureen Krauss, senior advisor of economic development at the Detroit Regional Chamber; Nicholas Stasevich, chairman of the British American Business Council of Michigan; and Mark Hogan, CEO of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation.

In a visit to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which has extensive exchange programs with several Hong Kong universities, Mr. Barclay discussed opportunities for further collaboration with the university’s director of International Academic Programs, Dan Gold.
