Zwirner's first art gallery in Asia coming to Central district

H Queen's building in Hong Kong will be home to David Zwirner's first gallery in Asia.

International art dealer David Zwirner will open his first Asia gallery in Hong Kong in 2017.

The gallery will be located in the new H Queen’s (HQ) building, a 24-story “gallery and lifestyle tower” currently under construction in the Central district.

The decision is a vote of confidence for Asia’s art market. Mr. Zwirner emphasized his “strong belief that Hong Kong is absolutely destined to be a major art hub in the region.”

Although Mr. Zwirner had considered other cities in the region, including Beijing and Shanghai, he said that Hong Kong was the clear choice for setting up his first outpost in Asia as the city is a hub for Asian collectors and curators.
