Web portal launched to attract talent to Hong Kong

The "Hong Kong Welcomes U" website provides valuable content for those who are considering relocating to the city.

Hong Kong has launched a one-stop web portal that provides a handy reference to a range of initiatives and support for talent from all over the world who are considering relocation to Asia’s World City.

The portal, "Hong Kong Welcomes U", includes information on jobs, education, investment, immigration as well as social, recreational and cultural activities in the cosmopolitan city.

In May, Hong Kong launched the pilot Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong Permanent Residents (ASSG) to facilitate the return of second-generation emigrants. The government also revised admission arrangements to encourage talent, professionals and entrepreneurs to come to Hong Kong.

The ASSG aims to attract the second generation of Chinese Hong Kong permanent residents who have emigrated overseas. There is no quota under this program and applicants are not required to have secured an offer of employment before entry.

On the talent admission programs, the stay arrangements will be relaxed; the point-scoring program will be adjusted to attract talent with excellent educational backgrounds or international work experience; and the admission arrangement for entrepreneurs including startup entrepreneurs will be set out clearly. See the website for details.
