Geopark retains status
in global network

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department lists "conservation, education and sustainable development" as the goals for the Hong Kong Global Geopark of China.

Global Geoparks Network has announced that Hong Kong Global Geopark has successfully passed revalidation and will continue to be a network member.

Hong Kong Geopark was admitted to the network in September 2011 and was officially renamed as Hong Kong Global Geopark of China.

Revalidation is required every four years to review the Geopark’s work progress in various aspects and to ensure its compliance with Global Geoparks' quality. Network assessors visited the Geopark in June.

Welcoming the revalidation result, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said, “Conservation, education and sustainable development are the goals of the Geopark. The department will continue to facilitate the sustainable development of geotourism, geology education and geological heritage, with a view to protecting the rich geological resources of Hong Kong.”
