Arbitration center, Hong Kong receive world-class ratings

Hong Kong is the world's third most preferred venue for international arbitration.

The Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) has been voted the world’s third-best arbitral institution, and the city is the world’s third most preferred venue for international arbitration, behind London and Paris, according to the Sixth International Arbitration Survey by the Queen Mary University of London.

Released at the annual conference of the International Bar Association in Vienna on October 6, the survey also found HKIAC to be the world's most improved institution over the past five years. Participants said their choice of institution was based on an assessment of the quality of its administration, neutrality and level of internationalism.

HKIAC Chair Teresa Cheng said the findings of the survey cement the fact that Hong Kong is at the very forefront as the venue for alternative dispute resolution in Asia and the preferred seat for complex disputes involving parties from across the globe.

HKIAC is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
