Atlanta dragon boat festival celebrates 20 year anniversary

HKETONY Director Steve Barclay (center) officiated at the eye-dotting ceremony of the 20th Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Atlanta.

The Hong Kong Dragon Boat Festival in Atlanta celebrated its 20th anniversary at the Lake Lanier Olympic Venue on September 12, with more than 8,000 athletes and visitors enjoying a fun-filled Saturday.

Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York (HKETONY) Director Steve Barclay thanked the organizer, sponsors and volunteers for their dedicated efforts throughout the years, bringing the Hong Kong sporting event to Atlanta. The office has been the title sponsor since 1995.

More than 70 teams, from Georgia as well as the neighboring states of South Carolina, Florida and Alabama, took part in the races.

A neck-and-neck race to the finish line.
