Progress made on trademark cooperation

Hong Kong Director of Intellectual Property Peter Cheung and President of the International Trademark Association (INTA) Mei-lan Stark signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Hong Kong on May 12 to establish a broad and flexible framework for developing cooperation on trademarks and other related fields. The areas for cooperation include:

• Invitations to programs and meetings;
• Cooperation in the organization of programs and meetings;
• Development of training programs; and
• Development of programs for the public.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the 136th Annual Meeting of INTA, which was held in Hong Kong from May 10-14. Nearly 8,500 attendees, consisting of counsels, trademark professionals, government officials and IP service providers from more than 140 countries, registered for the Annual Meeting.

LegCo’s website enhanced, revamped

The revamped website will improve the searchability of LegCo information.

Hong Kong Legislative Council (LegCo) launched a revamped website with enhanced features, which were designed to improve the searchability of LegCo information. The enhancements include the addition of appropriate metadata to the LegCo webpages for increased prominence in Google search results; the ability to share via social media platforms; the redesign of the Webcast layout to incorporate more useful features; and the linking of Webcast videos, attendance lists and minutes to the meeting agendas of the Council and its committees for easy reference.
