Enhanced GovHK Web site improves services
The GovHK portal [www.gov.hk] is enhancing its Web site for more efficient service delivery and user-friendly browsing.
A new feature displays the most popular and updated search keywords on the homepage. The new function will facilitate the search for government information more effectively and provide an overview of the topics of most concern to the public. Recommended links also will be placed in a new section on the search result page, highlighting new government initiatives and improving the relevancy of search results.
To provide more direct, speedy and simple delivery of online information and services, GovHK has put the most commonly used links as quick links on its homepage, such as the government telephone directory and the list of government Web sites.
The portal is also introducing more customer-oriented services. For example, once users have visited the portal, they will be redirected to the GovHK homepage in the version they used before, be it the Traditional Chinese version, Simplified Chinese version, English version or Mobile version. This will save users the repeated effort of choosing the version they want on the landing page, as was the case in browsing the former GovHK.
The design of the Web site interface also has been enriched visually, catering to users’ browsing habits and adding a more human touch. The new design is more vivid and graphic, with buttons, colors and more photographs added.
Set up in 2007, GovHK provides a one-stop portal where the public can easily access frequently sought online government information and services. Since its launch, the portal has enhanced its design and functions and introduced new services and features to meet users’ needs and expectations.
