Miami dragon boat festival attracts 25,000 spectators

Some 25,000 spectators were on hand to support and cheer for the 27 dragon boat teams competing at the World Dragon Boats Miami 2009 festival held April 25-26 at the Miami Marine Stadium.
Speaking at the grand opening ceremony, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York, Monica Chen said she was excited to see this year’s event growing into a two-day athletic meet.
The Miami Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Cup was one of the titles the teams were vying for this year.
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office, New York, is a founding sponsor of the dragon boat festival in Miami. Brand Hong Kong banners were prominently displayed at the site of this year’s dragon boat festival.
