President Clinton was in Hong Kong earlier for the 2008 Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) Asia meeting, held December 2-3. Hong Kong was the first city outside of the U.S. to stage a CGI congress and the Asia meeting was the first in a series of CGI meetings to take place in different regions of the world. The CGI was established in 2005 as a project of the non-partisan William J. Clinton Foundation. The CGI convenes global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
