New York ETO promotes 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events in Kentucky

Second public consultation launches on Companies Ordinance rewrite
The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government recently announced the launch of the second consultation on the Companies Ordinance rewrite, covering measures to improve provisions on company names, directors’ duties, corporate directorship and registration of charges.

The government would like to consult on the following four proposals.  

Express Rail Link gets green light for local section
Hong Kong’s Executive Council has agreed to ask the Mass Transit Railway Corporation Limited (MTRCL) to proceed with further planning and design of the Hong Kong section of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link (XRL). The section will be a 16.15-mile (26-kilometer) underground rail line that runs from the terminus in West Kowloon to the boundary at Huanggang, where it will connect with the XRL mainland China section.
 

Government Wi-Fi program launched on March 27
Hong Kong residents can now enjoy the convenience of accessing wireless Internet service for free at more than 30 government premises with the March 27 launch of the Government Wi-Fi (GovWiFi) Program.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Frederick Ma said GovWiFi will put in place approximately 2,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in 350 government locations by mid-2009.

Market-driven approach fosters competitive telecom industry
Hong Kong’s market-driven approach has fostered an innovative and competitive telecommunications industry, comprising local, mainland China and overseas operators who are making investment in facilities and developing new services and products to satisfy a community that is receptive to the rollout of new technology.

Hong Kong Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Frederick Ma addressed an April 24 plenary session on changing market profiles and flexible regulatory frameworks at the 7th APEC Ministerial Meeting on Telecommunications and Information Industry (TELMIN 7) in Bangkok, Thailand.

'Pavilion of Infinity' to represent Hong Kong at Shanghai Expo
The Hong Kong Pavilion at the 2010 Shanghai Expo will highlight the city’s potential and creativity.

“The Shanghai Expo will provide an opportunity for us to showcase Hong Kong’s city charms, quality city life and to promote Hong Kong’s creative industries,” said Hong Kong Chief Secretary for Administration Henry Tang.

'Six-Star' Sha Tin stables ready to greet Olympic horses
The air-conditioned stables at the Hong Kong Olympic Venue in Sha Tin are ready to house Olympic horses, with the first to arrive in the city July 27.

The stable complex comprises four blocks of air-conditioned stables, offering 224 stalls. Separate reserve stables, also air-conditioned, are available for 25 horses.
