Olympic Museum to be built

The Hong Kong Jockey Club signed a cooperation agreement April 10 with the International Olympic Committee Museum for the development of the Hong Kong Olympic Museum.

Attending the signing ceremony in Beijing, Hong Kong Chief Secretary Henry Tang said the club has invested US$153.84 million into providing Hong Kong the best equestrian venues and facilities in Olympic history and is setting new standards in Olympic equestrian sport.

He said Hong Kong has been mobilizing the best resources since it was chosen to co-host the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian events three years ago, and one of its valuable resources is the club. Olympic officials have praised Hong Kong's equestrian facilities.

Club Chairman John Chan said the facility is determined to see the Olympic spirit live on in Hong Kong and is delighted to work with the committee.

Both parties also signed a contributor agreement under which the club will support the Olympic movement by donating to the IOC Museum.
