Chan stars in tourism video

Hong Kong movie star Jackie Chan, an avid rider, shows off his riding skills while promoting Hong Kong as co-host city for the Olympics Equestrian Events.

Internationally renowned Hong Kong movie star and Tourism Ambassador Jackie Chan will be featured in a promotional video for Hong Kong, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB).

On February 11, Chan donned a full jockey outfit and appeared in the Riding School and Equestrian Park of the Hong Kong Jockey Club Beas River Country Club.  In the video, which is designed for an international audience, Chan promotes Hong Kong as co-host city for the Olympics Equestrian Events and also introduces Hong Kong’s unique culture and gourmet offerings. Chan also gives a lion dance performance.

Chan said the co-hosting of the Olympics Equestrian Events offers Hong Kong an opportunity of a lifetime.  Taking pride as the tourism ambassador for Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific, he said he would seize this opportunity to proactively promote Hong Kong to the world.

The promotional video is about 30 seconds long and will be available in English and Putonghua. The HKTB will distribute two versions of the video to cater to visitors from short- and long-haul markets.  In addition to promoting Hong Kong as the co-host city of the Olympics Equestrian Events, the video also showcases the charm and attractions of Hong Kong, its local dining scene and its fascinating culture and heritage.

The video will air on various channels and networks including National Geographic channel, ESPN, Eurosport and AXN next month, covering regions of both short- and long-haul markets such as mainland China, Southeast Asia, North Asia, Taiwan, Australia and Europe.  In addition, it can be viewed on the Internet and during consumer and travel trade activities hosted by the HKTB.
