Hong Kong Flower Show attracts more than 548,000 visitors

A Brand Hong Kong dragon welcomes visitors to the 2008 show.

More than 548,000 people visited the Hong Kong Flower Show 2008, held March 14-24 at Victoria Park.

Approximately 200 organizations from 21 countries took part in the flower show organized by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

Canada, New Zealand, Estonia, the United States and Russia took part in the show for the first time.

Gerbera was the theme flower for this year’s show, which was entitled “Vibrant Blossoms for Beijing Olympics”.

More than 60,000 pots of Gerbera, including more than 100 cultivars, were on display at the show.

A display made of 30,000 flowers features mascots and logos for the Olympic games.
