Film series to honor director Ann Hui in Boston
The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in New York HKETONY), in conjunction with the Harvard Film Archive, will present “March Rhapsody: Selected Films of Ann Hui” from March 16–21.
The film event aims to highlight the accomplishments of director Ann Hui in the Hong Kong film industry and to promote Hong Kong films in Boston and cultural exchange between the two cities.
The opening of the film series is the area premiere of Ms. Hui’s latest film, “The Postmodern Life of My Aunt.”
Monica Chen, director of HKETO(NY), said: “We are glad to embark on this first project with the Harvard Film Archive in honor of Ann Hui, one of the leading filmmakers in the Hong Kong film industry and one of the most significant woman directors in world cinema. I am pleased to offer the Boston community the opportunity to appreciate quality Hong Kong movies.”
Miss Chen thanked Ted Barron, senior programmer of Harvard Film Archive, for putting the film series together. “I look forward to more collaboration with the Harvard Film Archive in future,” she added.
